Celebrating the life of
Jean Anne "Lackey" Perez
September 03, 1948 - March 17, 2026
Jean Anne “Lackey” Perez , 77, born September 3, 1948 (always celebrated on September 4, 1948) passed away peacefully in the early morning of St. Patrick’s Day, March 17, 2026. St. Patrick’s Day was a favorite holiday of hers. Raise a glass in her honor.
Jean was born in South Bend, Indiana the second of four children of James and Wilhelmina Lackey. After graduating from Savannah High School she married her first husband and created her two children. She held a variety of jobs before finding her career as a Chatham County Sheriff’s Deputy where she met her current husband and retired. Her husband, Hector Perez, Sr. will miss her incredibly. They loved their slow dances on holidays… she’s dancing again in heaven. Her siblings: Phyllis Klieber of Texas, Jimmy Lackey (Kathy) and Gary Lackey both of Savannah. Several nieces and nephews.
Her children Melissa (Guyer) Pierce (Russell) of Pooler and Andy Guyer (Marina) of Kaneohe, HA will cherish the time they had with their mother. She was a strong woman who taught them many things. She loved hearing about stepsons Hector Perez, Jr. (Michelle) and Charles Perez, (Lyndsey), children Delia and Donovan of Oklahoma.
Jean Anne loved and cherished her grandchildren most of all. She was an integral part in their development. She would drop everything to help with them until her health declined. Her oldest granddaughter, Shelbie Pierce, her grandson, Bailey Pierce and youngest granddaughter Zoie Pierce will miss her terribly.
Everyone who knew Jean Anne knew that she could do anything that she set her mind to do. Her favorite thing besides her family was her love of art. She was a master artist, she loved painting with water color and acrylic paints. She was a master seamstress, creating everything from wedding parties to sewing small quilts, monogramming the list goes on… her lastest addiction was diamond dot art… and she loved it!
She is preceded in death by her parents and her beloved brother-in-law Bill Klieber, Sr.
The family would like to thank Savannah Hospice for their compassion and care.
There will be a memorial service at 2:00 pm on Monday, March 23, 2026 at the Fox & Weeks Hodgson Chapel.
My prayers are truly with you all. I lived & grew up across the street & in her house on 48th st. She was a second mother to me growing up. And Melissa(Missy) and Andy were my very close friends/family. Life has taken us in all different directions but I'll never forget the love she gave me & I loved how she just told you how she felt...no tip toeing always just honest.
